The elegance of the Queen Victoria!

    January 21, 2023 / 12 Comments

One of my favorite spaces on the Queen Victoria is this multi-level library. It is absolutely stunning and a wonderful place to just hang out. The library staff are very helpful and with over 6,000 books to read, I might give my Kindle a break. With the exception of the guide books (and they have at least one for every country/port on our itinerary), you can check the books out to read in whatever nook you favor on the ship. I like the Chart Room myself. This gorgeous clock and staircase are found in, of all places, the casino. I’ve found that the casinos on Cunard are much more quiet…

When you park your camper in your daughter’s dri When you park your camper in your daughter’s driveway and she’s a mushroom forager. She found these oysters on a hike this morning and they were my dinner tonight. Now that’s fresh! Thanks Mallory❤️
The reason I headed south instead of continuing in The reason I headed south instead of continuing into the Canadian Maritime provinces was because my daughter Jessica was facing a pretty complicated surgery.

It has been a week now, and she’s doing amazingly well. I can’t thank the team Oshner University Hospital enough. The physicians who performed the surgery, Drs. Provost, Norris & Germano were Wonder Women and will forever have the gratitude of our family. The 6th floor nurses, Stacey, Melinda, Annika, Megan, Casey and others I’ve neglected to name were some of the best health care providers I’ve had the pleasure of observing.

The picture below is part of Jessie’s recovery setting and is peaceful and healing. My plan is to stay until she is independent. Life is good y’all ❤️

An amazing day here on PEI with Ron & Cindy! Drove An amazing day here on PEI with Ron & Cindy! Drove up to Souris and walked the singing/squeaky sands, had a lobster meal for the price I paid for just a lobster roll in Maine. Drove back to the cottage where Primrose Darling joined us for their traditional sea glass hunt. Just magical ❤️
Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there. Al Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there. Although mine has been gone for nearly 30 years, his sense of adventure lives on through me and my family.
My flight back to the states and rental car pickup My flight back to the states and rental car pickup last night went seamlessly! I had left my truck with my daughter and son-in-law who had a plan to design a modification to the truck bed while I was in Europe. Y’all, I’ll post separately on what he did. It’s worth a video. I can’t wait to field test it!

Right now, I’m halfway back up the coast towards Tallahassee and stopping at my favorite place for Cedar Key clams. It’s 87F (30C) and The warm clothes I took abroad with me will get packed away until next time🌞🌞🌞
When I retired on this day 3 years ago, my plan wa When I retired on this day 3 years ago, my plan was to travel full time. And I’m loving every minute. Even those that have me sitting in the airport in London a day later than I should be because my flight from Copenhagen to London yesterday had to return to Copenhagen mid-flight - we weren’t told why. Which means I had to reschedule my missed flight to Florida for today and take the only remaining seat which is in the middle of the center row🙄.

But that’s okay. Even though I still had my time set on Copenhagen time and left my hotel an hour earlier than I needed to. 🤦‍♀️ Travel, in my experience, is rarely linear and even these detours are part of the adventure. I have until Sunday to get do the maintenance things I need to do on my camper before I hit the road again. Plenty of time 😂

I’ve been coming fairly regularly to London for I’ve been coming fairly regularly to London for about 20 years and try and discover new things each time I visit. But one thing I ALWAYS do is the British Museum. Even in 2020 when we were in various states of closure and lockdown, I went with it’s limited options. This time I was determined to see the Sutton Hoo exhibit because I am always to exhausted by the time I get to that part of the museum.

So I passed through China, Assyrian treasures, Egypt and a thousand other things and headed to ancient Britain. Fascinating. Well worth the visit 😁
